About Us
Ruckman Family Orchards is located in Palisade, CO in the beautiful Grand Valley, just east of Grand Junction. We are a family owned and operated business and take great pride in our fruit. We have been blessed with the finest high altitude growing conditions and a love for the land that come together to result in some of the best fruit in the country. Our famous Palisade Peaches invoke sweet memories of summer to all who have been lucky enough to taste the juicy harvest!
The Ruckmans have lived in the Grand Valley and surrounding areas since the early 1900s and have always had a love for farming. In the 1970’s, Al Ruckman and his family began expanding this love to the orchards. It was truly a family operation and labor of love, but eventually the family was called to pursue projects elsewhere. The land kept calling, however, and Al and (the late) Sue Ruckman returned to Palisade in the early 2000’s. Their son Ted, wife Jo Ann and son Christopher joined them in a small orcharding venture soon after. Before long, Ted and Jo Ann’s son Nicholas also was also called by his love of the land and now the orchards have grown into a much bigger family business. Shiela and Samantha have joined the ranks (wife to Al and Nicholas, respectively). Ted and Jo Ann’s daughter Julie, son-in-law Jason and their three children round out Ruckman Family Orchards; a four-generation affair!
We love all things farming, family and homesteading. When we have free time some of our hobbies include history, canning, freezing, crafting, you name it. Join our Pinterest page (in progress) to see what we’re in to!
